Leopolis was once a small town in Livingston County, Missouri. Today, it is known as an "extinct town" or a ghost town. This means that the town no longer exists as a populated place.
History of Leopolis
Leopolis was started by a group of Catholic settlers. They likely named the town after a seminary, which is a special school for training priests, that was located nearby.
The town had a post office that opened in 1892. This post office helped people send and receive mail. However, it only stayed open for about nine years, closing its doors in 1901. After the post office closed, the town of Leopolis slowly faded away.
