Lepa Lukić's Singing Career
Starting to Sing
Lepa started singing when she was about ten years old. This was around 1950 in her village. Her professional singing journey began in the 1960s. At first, she sang duets with other singers. Some of these singers were Mića Stojanović and Gvozden Radičević.
Becoming a Solo Artist
Lepa really wanted to sing by herself. She preferred being a solo artist instead of singing in duets. During a concert, she told a famous accordion player, Radojka Živković, about her dream. Radojka was not sure at first. But Lepa cried and begged her to let her try. When Radojka heard Lepa sing, she was very impressed. She asked Lepa to sing more songs.
Her First Big Song
There are a couple of stories about how Lepa got her first solo recording deal. Lepa says that in 1967, a composer named Petar Tanasijević asked her to record. This happened on a bus ride to Belgrade. She quickly said yes! The next day, he gave her the song "Od izvora dva putića." This means "From the Spring of Two Roads." She recorded this song and three others for her first album.
Another story comes from Petar Tanasijević himself. He says he heard Lepa singing on a bus in 1964. At first, he found her singing annoying. But later, he heard her perform on stage. He was amazed by her voice. He even compared her to the famous singer Nada Mamula. He promised to write a song for her. About a year later, he wrote "Od izvora dva putića" and gave it to her.
A Famous Fan
It was said that a famous writer, Ivo Andrić, liked Lepa's song "Vremena su prošla stara." This means "Old Times Have Passed." Petar Tanasijević also wrote this song. Even though they never met, it's cool to think a famous writer enjoyed her music!
Last Solo Concert
Lepa Lukić announced that her last solo concert would be on September 27, 2023. It was planned to take place in Dom Sindikata in Belgrade.
