Lerna is a small village in Coles County, Illinois, United States. In 2020, about 226 people lived there. It is part of the Charleston-Mattoon area. Lerna is famous because Thomas Lincoln, the father of President Abraham Lincoln, lived nearby. His old home is now a special place called the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site. Thomas Lincoln and his second wife, Sarah Bush Lincoln, are buried in Shiloh Cemetery, just south of the village.
