Leroy Jetta was born on 6 July 1988. He is an Australian rules football player who used to play for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Leroy was known as a very talented junior player.

A Young Star in the Making

Leroy Jetta was a standout player even before he joined the AFL. He was chosen for the Under 18 All-Australian Team twice. This team features the best young players in Australia. He also won the Kevin Sheehan Medal in 2004. This award goes to the best player in Division 1 at the Under 16 National Championships. In 2005, he was part of the AIS-AFL Academy, which helps train future AFL stars.

Kicking Off His AFL Journey

The Essendon Football Club picked Leroy in the 2006 AFL Draft. He was the 18th player chosen overall. He came from the South Fremantle Football Club. Leroy was known for his amazing speed, great kicking skills, and excellent vision on the field.

He played his first AFL game in 2007, right at the start of the season. He played three more games after that. However, a groin injury stopped him from playing for a while. Even though he played with Essendon's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL), the injury sadly ended his 2007 season early.

Getting Stronger and Faster

In 2008, Leroy worked hard and came back to the club in fantastic shape. He was very fit and even set a club record for the 20-meter sprint. His strong fitness helped him play well in the pre-season games.

Because he was playing so well, Essendon picked him for their first game of the 2008 season. He got 13 possessions (times he got the ball) and showed off his great tackling skills. But in his third game, he got a hamstring injury. He returned to play later in the season. Essendon's coach, Matthew Knights, believed in Leroy. Leroy showed his coach was right with an excellent game against Fremantle in Round 14.

Facing Challenges on the Field

The 2009 season was another important year for Leroy's growth as a player. After a few quiet games in the pre-season, he was not chosen for the first two games of the season. But he played very well for the Bendigo Bombers (Essendon's VFL team). This strong performance led to him being called back to play for Essendon in a big game against Carlton in Round 3.

Moving On from Essendon

After playing for Essendon for eight seasons, Leroy Jetta left the club on 7 September 2014.

Playing After the AFL

After leaving Essendon, Leroy continued to play football. He played for Peel Thunder in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). In 2018, he played for Pinjarra in the WA Amateur Football League.
