Leslie Amenia Meek was born on May 9, 1965. She is an American lawyer who has been a judge in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia since 2023. Before that, she worked as an administrative law judge from 2006 to 2023.

Early Life and Education

Leslie Meek studied at Fisk University and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987. She then went to Case Western Reserve University School of Law and received her law degree (Juris Doctor) in 1990.

Her Career as a Lawyer and Judge

Leslie Meek started her career working for the State Attorney's Office in Miami-Dade. She also served as an assistant city attorney for Miami. From 1992 to 1994, she worked for the Florida Comptroller.

Working for Teachers

From 1995 to 2003, Leslie Meek was a lawyer for the United Teachers of Dade in Miami. She started as an assistant general counsel and later became the general counsel. This means she was a top lawyer helping the teachers' organization.

Becoming an Administrative Law Judge

From 2006 to 2014, Meek served as an administrative law judge. She also worked as an appellate administrative law judge. This was for the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services. From 2014 to 2023, she continued as an administrative law judge. This time, it was with the District of Columbia Office of Administrative Hearings. Leslie Meek was married to Kendrick Meek. He was a U.S. Representative from Florida. They have two children together. Leslie Meek also led the Congressional Black Caucus Spouses organization. This group is for the spouses of members of the Congressional Black Caucus.
