Lester Hudson III was born on August 7, 1984. He is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Shandong Heroes in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

In 2007–08, Hudson made history in college basketball. He recorded the only quadruple-double in NCAA Division I men's basketball. This means he reached double digits in four different stats in one game.

Hudson was chosen by the Boston Celtics in the 2009 NBA draft. He was the 58th pick. Later, he played for teams like the Memphis Grizzlies, Washington Wizards, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

College Basketball Career

Lester Hudson had an amazing college career. He played for the University of Tennessee at Martin. In the 2007–08 season, he helped his team improve a lot. They were expected to finish last but ended up fourth in their league.

Making History with a Quadruple-Double

On November 13, 2007, Hudson achieved something very rare. He became the first Division I men's player to get a quadruple-double. In that game, he scored 25 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, made 10 assists, and had 10 steals. This was a huge moment in college basketball.

He also had a triple-double (double digits in three stats) and many double-doubles. He scored over 30 points in 11 games that season. He was one of the best players in the country. He ranked high in points, steals, and 3-pointers.

Awards and Recognition

Hudson came from Southwest Tennessee Community College. He was the first player from UT Martin to win the OVC Player of the Year award. He won it twice, in 2008 and 2009. This was a big deal, as it hadn't happened in that conference for many years.

He was also named to the OVC All-Newcomer team. He was chosen for the All-OVC first-team twice. UT Martin also named him their Male Athlete of the Year. He received All-American honors, which was another first for his school.

Professional Basketball Career

Lester Hudson started his professional journey in the NBA. He played for several teams and also spent a lot of time in the NBA's minor league, the D-League.

Early NBA Years

In the 2009–10 season, Hudson played for the Boston Celtics. He also spent time with their D-League team, the Maine Red Claws. He was later picked up by the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies also sent him to their D-League team, the Dakota Wizards.

After leaving the Grizzlies, Hudson played for the Washington Wizards. He joined their training camp and made the team. He played a few games for them before moving on.

Time in China and NBA Return

In January 2011, Hudson went to China. He signed with the Guangdong Southern Tigers. Later, he joined Qingdao DoubleStar in November 2011.

In March 2012, Hudson returned to the NBA. He signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He quickly showed his skills, scoring many points in several games. He even made some last-second shots to force overtime. After his time with the Cavaliers, he rejoined the Memphis Grizzlies for the rest of the 2011–12 season.

Playing in China and the NBA D-League

In October 2012, Hudson signed with the Dongguan Leopards in China. In March 2013, he joined the Austin Toros in the NBA D-League.

He briefly signed with the Utah Jazz in October 2013 but was later waived. He then returned to China, playing for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers.

Success in the CBA

Hudson found great success in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). In October 2014, he signed with the Liaoning Flying Leopards. He became a star player there.

In March 2015, he had another short return to the NBA. He signed with the Los Angeles Clippers. He even signed a multi-year deal with them but was later waived in July.

Hudson then returned to the Liaoning Flying Leopards in September 2015. He signed a new three-year deal and continued to be a key player for them. He re-signed with the team again in 2018.

During the 2019–20 season, Hudson played for the Shandong Heroes. He averaged impressive stats, including 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists per game. He re-signed with the Shandong Heroes in October 2020.

NBA Career Highlights

Lester Hudson played in 52 regular season NBA games. He averaged 4.7 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. His best scoring average was 12.7 points per game with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2011–12 season. He also played in 7 playoff games with the Los Angeles Clippers.
