Letts is a small community located in Sand Creek Township, within Decatur County, Indiana. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own official town or city government. Instead, it's part of a larger local area called a township.
A Look Back: The History of Letts
Letts was first planned and settled in 1882. This is when people decided where streets and buildings would go, and then started building the community. It became a new place for people to live and work in the area.
For many years, Letts had its own post office. This office helped people send and receive letters and packages. An early person in charge of the post office was named Allen W. Lett. The post office in Letts eventually closed down in 1954.
