Events on Holy Friday

Holy Friday is a day with several unique processions. In the afternoon, the "Funeral" procession takes place. Later at night, the quiet "Silence" procession moves through the streets. Early in the morning, around 6:00 a.m., a special event happens. Our Lord leaves the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption and walks through the old town. Soon after, Our Lady also leaves. They meet in the Plaza Mayor, the main square, for a special "encounter."

Resurrection Sunday: "Las Cortesias"

Resurrection Sunday features the famous "Las Cortesias" Procession. This joyful celebration happens in the Plaza Mayor. White doves are set free into the sky during this event. The procession usually starts around 11:30 a.m. First, Our Lady of Sorrows appears, dressed in black. She walks behind the Town Hall and through the Arc of Moreras. Then she climbs up to the Plaza Mayor. At the same time, Our Father also comes from the church to the Plaza Mayor. This is where they meet, and the Spanish national anthem plays.
