Liam's Early Life and Education
Liam Charles went to Goldsmiths University in London. There, he studied Drama and Theatre Arts. This helped him become comfortable in front of the camera.
Liam's Baking Career
Becoming a TV Star
Liam first became famous on The Great British Bake Off in 2017. He was a contestant and made it to the eighth week of the show. He finished in fifth place.
After his time on Bake Off, Liam became a TV presenter. In 2018, he started co-hosting Bake Off: The Professionals with comedian Tom Allen. He also had his own baking show called Liam Bakes on Channel 4.
In 2019, Liam joined Prue Leith as a judge for Junior Bake Off. This show is for young bakers. Harry Hill was the presenter for that series. In 2022, Liam also appeared on The Masked Dancer in the UK. He was the character "Candlestick"!
Writing Cookbooks
Liam Charles has also written two cookbooks. His first book, Cheeky Treats: 70 Brilliant Bakes and Cakes, came out in 2018. His second book, Second Helpings, was released in 2019. He also writes a baking column for The Guardian newspaper.
The Platinum Pudding Competition
In 2022, Liam Charles was chosen to be a judge for a special event. It was called The Platinum Pudding Competition. This was a baking contest held across the UK. Its goal was to find a new pudding recipe for Queen Elizabeth II. This competition was part of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The Jubilee marked 70 years since she became Queen.
