Liam Treadwell was born in Arundel, a town in West Sussex, England. He went to school at the Angmering School in his local area. Many people knew him by his friendly nickname, "Tredders".
A Jockey's Career Highlights
Liam Treadwell worked closely with the well-known horse trainer Venetia Williams. His biggest win came in 2009 at the Grand National. This was his very first time riding in the Grand National, and it was also his first season in jump racing.
Winning the Grand National with Mon Mome at 100/1 odds was a truly rare event. It was only the fifth time in history that a horse with such long odds had won the race. The last time it happened before that was in 1967.
Later in 2009, Liam caused another big upset. He won the United House Gold Cup at Ascot while riding a horse called The Last Derby. The odds for that win were 33 to 1.

Liam faced some tough times due to injuries, which are common for jockeys. In 2016, he had a fall at Bangor and was unable to race for six months.
Retirement and Return to Racing
On 13 February 2018, Liam Treadwell announced that he was retiring from racing. He had won 298 races by this point in his career.
