The Liberian First Division is the top football league in Liberia. It used to be called the Liberian Premier League. This exciting league started way back in 1956. Almost all the winning teams have been from Monrovia, the capital city. Two teams, Mighty Barrolle and Invincible Eleven, have won the most championships. The Liberia Football Association organizes all the games. Since 2010, the league has been sponsored by Orange, a big company. That's why it's now known as the LFA-Orange First Division League.

About the League

The Liberian First Division is where the best football teams in Liberia compete. It's the highest level of professional football in the country. Teams play against each other to win the championship title each season. The winner gets to represent Liberia in big African football tournaments. These include the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

League Sponsors

Big companies sometimes help fund sports leagues. This is called sponsorship. In March 2010, Cellcom GSM, a phone company in Liberia and Guinea, started sponsoring the Liberian First Division. They signed a deal for three years. This deal lasted until the end of the 2012–13 season.

In October 2013, Cellcom GSM and the Liberia Football Association agreed to extend their sponsorship. They signed another three-year deal. This new deal lasted until the end of the 2015–16 season.
