Lida Baday (born July 31, 1957) is a famous Canadian fashion designer. She created her own clothing brand using her name. Lida Baday was honored twice as the Toronto Designer of the Year. Her designs were also sold in the United States.

Early Life and Education
Lida Baday was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Her mother was a skilled dressmaker. This likely sparked Lida's interest in clothing.
Lida first planned to study languages. However, she later chose to study fashion. She attended Ryerson University in Toronto. She graduated from her fashion studies in 1979.
Lida Baday's Fashion Brand
Lida Baday started her own fashion line in 1987. It was called "Lida Baday" after herself. Her brand made clothes for women. It was very successful for 27 years. The last collection was in the spring of 2014.
What Were Her Designs Like?

Lida Baday made history in November 1992. She became the first Canadian designer to offer clothing patterns. These patterns were sold through McCall's. McCall's is a big company based in the United States. Lida continued to create patterns for them for many years.
In 1994, Lida Baday opened a new office and showroom. This was in New York City. Her clothing collections were sold in major department stores. These included:

After Fashion Design
