Lidia Falcón O'Neill was born on December 13, 1935. She is a Spanish politician and writer. Lidia studied law, drama, and journalism. She also earned a PhD in philosophy.

Lidia Falcón is well-known for supporting feminism in Spain. Feminism is the belief that women should have the same rights and opportunities as men. She was especially active during the Transition. This was a time when Spain moved from a dictatorship to a democracy.

She was part of the Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSUC). She faced difficulties and unfair treatment because of her political beliefs. This happened during the Franco dictatorship. In 1976, she started the Feminist Collective of Barcelona. She also created a feminist magazine called Vindicación Feminista. She founded a publishing house too. In 1977, she helped create the Revolutionary Feminist Organization. This group later became the Feminist Party of Spain. Since 1979, she has been in charge of the magazine Poder y libertad.

Her grandmother, Regina de Lamo, and her aunt, Carlota O'Neill, were also writers. So, it was not a surprise when Lidia wrote her first play. She was only 12 years old at the time.

During the dictatorship, Lidia's mother worked as a censor. This meant she reviewed books and articles. Lidia herself faced challenges for her political views.
