Early Life and Musical Beginnings

Jazz Butler was born on October 3, 1995, in Teaneck, New Jersey. His parents are Cheryl "Coko" Gamble from the R&B group SWV and Ishmael Butler from the hip hop group Digable Planets.

He grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia, listening to punk rock and southern hip hop music. These styles inspired him to start making his own music. His parents separated when he was young, so he lived with both his mother and his father at different times. As a teenager, he lived in Seattle, Washington, and went to Garfield High School. At age 17, he decided to live on his own to focus on his music.

Music Career

Starting Out as Yung Bruh

Butler began making music when he was 15 years old. When he was 18, he moved to Los Angeles to build his music career. He started using the name "Yung Bruh" and released several mixtapes with a music group called Thraxxhouse.

Later, Tracy and some other members of Thraxxhouse formed their own group called GothBoiClique. Through this group, he met the New York rapper Lil Peep. They worked together on the song "White Tee" from Lil Peep's mixtape Crybaby. The song became very popular in the underground hip hop community.

Becoming Lil Tracy

In 2017, he was featured on Lil Peep's song "Awful Things". The song was a big hit and reached number 79 on the Billboard Hot 100. This brought him a lot of attention. He also released the mixtape Life of a Popstar in July 2017.
