About Liliane Juchli's Life
Liliane Juchli became famous for writing a very important nursing textbook in German. Many people simply called her book "the Juchli." This book helped many nurses learn how to care for patients. She also helped to improve and share a special nursing idea called "activities of daily living." This idea helps nurses understand what patients need help with every day, like eating or getting dressed. Liliane Juchli passed away because of COVID-19.
Her Important Nursing Books
From 1953 to 1969, Liliane Juchli worked on her own teaching notes. These notes grew into a 300-page textbook. It was first used inside the Theodosianum Hospital and Nursing School in Zurich.
Later, a publishing company called Thieme in Stuttgart asked her to publish her book. This led to her famous book, Umfassende Krankenpflege, being published. By 1989, over 550,000 copies of her book had been sold! The 6th edition, published in 1991, was the first to have more than 1,000 pages. This shows how much valuable information was in her books.
