Lina Marín was a talented Mexican actress. She was famous for her roles in movies like A Man Called Horse (1970) and El bueno para nada (1973). She was of Zapotec descent, an indigenous group from Mexico. Lina Marín passed away on June 23, 1989.

Early Life and Career
Lina Marín was born Felipa Cartas Orozco in Unión Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Mexico. This area is part of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. When she was 14, she moved to Mexico City. There, she started her acting career. Her first small role was in the drama film El derecho de nacer in 1966.
Rising to Fame
Lina Marín quickly gained more important roles. She appeared in La marcha a Zacatecas and El último pistolero, both in 1969. A big moment in her career was playing Thorn Rose, a Sioux Indian woman, in the movie A Man Called Horse (1970). This film helped her become known internationally.

Starring Role in El bueno para nada
One of Lina Marín's biggest achievements in Mexican cinema was her role in El bueno para nada (1973). This was her second movie with the famous comedian Capulina. In this film, she played the main female character, María. María was Capulina's Native Mexican girlfriend. She worked as a maid for Susana Alexander and Pancho Córdova. Lina Marín showed that she was not only beautiful but also very talented at comedy.
She took a break from acting for a while. In the mid-1980s, she returned to the screen. She had a supporting role in the film Lo que importa es vivir (1987). Lina Marín passed away on June 23, 1989. She left behind two children.
Legacy
Lina Marín's memory lives on. A movie theater in the Herón Ríos Cultural Center in Juchitán de Zaragoza is named after her. In 2016, her hometown of Unión Hidalgo honored her. They created a mural and a short film about her life.
