Lincoln's climbing salamander (Bolitoglossa lincolni) is a special type of salamander. It is part of the Plethodontidae family. These salamanders are sometimes called "lungless salamanders." This means they breathe through their skin and the lining of their mouth!

Where Lincoln's Climbing Salamander Lives

This unique salamander can be found in two countries: Guatemala and Mexico. It lives in forests that are warm and wet. These places are often called "subtropical" or "tropical moist montane forests." The word "montane" means these forests are found in mountain areas.

Why This Salamander is in Danger

Sadly, Lincoln's climbing salamander is facing a big problem. Its natural home, the forest, is slowly disappearing. This is known as habitat loss. When forests are cut down for farms, buildings, or other human activities, these salamanders lose their places to live. They also lose their food sources and safe spots. This makes it very hard for them to survive and thrive in the wild.
