Linden is a small, unofficial community located in northern Christian County, Missouri, in the United States. It is not an official town with its own local government.
Where is Linden Located?
Linden can be found about 4.5 miles northwest of a town called Sparta. It sits right on Route 125. This highway crosses over a stream known as Finley Creek.
People built a dam on Finley Creek in this area. This dam created a small lake called Lake Lindenlure. You can find Lake Lindenlure just east of Route 125. Linden is also considered part of the larger Springfield, Missouri area.
How Did Linden Get Its Name?
The name "Linden" was brought over from another place called Linden, Tennessee. Before it was known as Linden, this community had a different name: "Kenton."
There was even a post office in the area named Kenton. This post office opened in 1860. It served the community for many years before closing in 1911.
