Lingtong District (pronounced Lin-tong) is a special area, like a borough, in the city of Xi'an, Shaanxi province, China. It's located to the east of Xi'an, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) from the city center. Lingtong is surrounded by other important places: Weinan Municipality is to its east, and Gaoling District, Baqiao District, and Xianyang Municipality are to its west. To the south is Lantian County, and to the north is Yanliang District. This district covers an area of about 916 square kilometers (354 square miles). In November 2010, around 655,874 people called Lingtong home.

Lingtong was once known by a different name, Yueyang. It started as Lingtong County and was part of Weinan Municipality. Later, it became part of Xi'an. In 1988, its name officially changed to Lingtong District.

Lingtong is very famous for its many historical sites and is a popular place for tourists to visit. It also plays an important role for Xi'an in terms of its military history and significance.
