Lion (bar) facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Lion is a super yummy chocolate bar made by Nestlé. It first came out in England, thanks to a company called Rowntree's.

About the Lion Bar

The Lion bar is a crunchy and chewy treat! It has a crispy wafer inside, lots of gooey caramel (about a third of the bar!), and crunchy crisp cereal. All of this is covered in smooth milk chocolate.

It was first created by Alan Norman. For a while, in some places, it was even called "Big Cat"! When Nestlé bought the brand in 1988, they made a small change to the recipe – it used to have peanuts, but they took them out. They also updated the wrapper.

You can find Lion bars in many countries, especially in Europe. Sometimes, you might even spot them in places like the U.S., Canada, or Australia in special import shops. Over the years, there have been some fun limited-edition Lion bars, like BlackWhite, White Lion, and even Peanut Butter Lion! There's also a bigger "king size" version for when you're extra hungry.

Some fans have noticed that Lion bars have gotten a bit smaller recently, which has caused some chatter!

Lion Cereal

Did you know there's also a breakfast cereal inspired by the Lion bar? It's called "Lion Cereal" and it's made by Nestlé too! You can find it in Europe, the UK, Ireland, and the Middle East. It first came out in the early 2000s, then took a break, and a slightly different version was released again in 2011.
