Before becoming a politician, Carmant worked as a physician, which is a type of doctor. He was elected to the National Assembly on October 1, 2018, as a member of the Coalition Avenir Québec political party.
Political Career
As a politician, Lionel Carmant took on an important role related to health in Quebec's government. In October 2018, he became the Associate Minister for Health.
One of his first tasks was to help create stricter rules for public health and safety. The government decided to raise the legal age for buying and using certain products from 18 to 21 years old to better protect young people's health.
