His Education
Lionel Guérin studied to become an aerospace engineer. This means he learned how to design and build aircraft. He graduated from a school called École nationale supérieure de mécanique et d'aérotechnique.
He also trained to be an airline pilot. He learned how to fly planes at the École nationale de l'aviation civile (ÉNAC).
His Career in Aviation
After finishing his engineering studies, Lionel Guérin started working. He became the technical director at a company called Europe Aéro Service. His job was to make sure the aircraft fleet was well-maintained.
After his pilot training, he flew planes for several airlines. He worked for Uni Air, Air Inter, and Air France. At Air France, he became a Captain flying the Airbus A320. He also taught other pilots and helped set flight standards.
Later, he decided to start his own airline. He founded Airlinair, which was a regional airline. In February 2007, he also became the President of Transavia France.
In 2011, there was talk that he might become the head of Air France. However, another person was chosen for that role instead.

Since 2003, Lionel Guérin has been involved in important aviation groups. He is the President of the Fédération nationale de l'aviation marchande. This group represents businesses in the French aviation industry. He also leads the Chambre syndicale du transport aérien.
He was also a member of the board for the Conseil supérieur de l'aviation marchande. From 2006 to 2011, he advised the Banque de France in Creteil.
Lionel Guérin is also very interested in protecting the environment. He loves parrots and supports sustainable ways of flying. This means finding ways for aviation to be less harmful to the planet.
