Lionello Manfredonia was born on November 27, 1956, in Rome, Italy. He is a former Italian footballer who played as a defender or midfielder. Today, he works as the head of the youth sector at Brescia.

Playing for Clubs
Lionello Manfredonia played for several big Italian football clubs. He started his professional career with Lazio, where he played from 1975 to 1985. After that, he joined Juventus and played there from 1985 to 1987. His last club was Roma, where he played from 1987 to 1989.
During his time in Italy's top league, Serie A, he played in 289 matches and scored 15 goals. In December 1989, during a match, Manfredonia suddenly collapsed. He had a serious health issue. Luckily, his former teammate Bruno Giordano quickly helped him. Lionello made a full recovery, but he decided to stop playing football at 33 years old.
Playing for Italy
Manfredonia also played for the Italy national football team. He played four matches for his country between 1977 and 1978. His first game for the national team was on December 3, 1977, when Italy won 3-0 against Luxembourg. He was also part of the Italian team that finished fourth in the 1978 FIFA World Cup tournament.
