Early Life and Family
Lisa Eilbacher was born in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Her father, an American, worked for an oil company there. Because of her father's job, Lisa's family moved around a lot when she was young. They lived in Paris, France, before moving to the United States and settling in Beverly Hills, California.
Lisa did not go to a special acting school. Instead, her mother coached her and helped her develop her acting skills. Lisa's sister, Cindy Eilbacher, and brother, Bobby Eilbacher, were also actors when they were younger.
Acting Career
First Roles on Television
Eilbacher began her acting career as a child. She appeared in popular TV shows like My Three Sons and Gunsmoke. As she grew older, she took on roles for young adults.
In 1977, she played Callie Shaw in the mystery series The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries. That same year, she also appeared in the pilot episode of the TV show The Amazing Spider-Man. She and her sister Cindy acted together in a few TV shows and movies, including the 1974 TV movie Bad Ronald.
Famous Movie Roles
Eilbacher became well-known for her roles in two major films of the 1980s.
In the 1982 movie An Officer and a Gentleman, she played Casey Seeger. Her character was a candidate training to be a Naval Aviation Officer. Seeger struggled with the difficult obstacle course but worked hard and eventually graduated. In real life, Eilbacher was an amateur bodybuilder, so she said the hardest part of the role was pretending to be out of shape.
In 1984, she starred in the hit action-comedy Beverly Hills Cop. She played Jenny Summers, an art gallery manager and a childhood friend of the main character, played by Eddie Murphy. Together, they team up to solve the mystery of their friend's murder.
Eilbacher also acted in the popular 1983 TV miniseries The Winds of War, where she played Madeleine Henry. She retired from acting in 1995.
