Lisa Wu's Early Life

Lisa Wu grew up in Inglewood, California. She was one of nine children in her family. Her father, Stanley Wu, was a Chinese-American. Her mother, Victoria Brislis-Wu, had Afro-Caribbean roots. Lisa has shared that her family sometimes faced unfair comments in their neighborhood.

Her Career Journey

Starting as a Dancer

Lisa Wu began her career as a backup dancer. She danced for famous music groups like Public Enemy, EPMD, and Candyman. After dancing, she joined a rap group called 9tene.

Moving into Film and TV

Later, Lisa left music and started working in the film industry. She wrote, produced, and acted in a movie called Black Ball in 2003. She continued to work as a writer, producer, and actress for many years.

Reality TV Star

From 1992 to 2002, Lisa was married to singer Keith Sweat. They have two sons together, Jordan, born in 1995, and Justin, born in 1998.

In 2005, Lisa married NFL player Ed Hartwell. They had one son, Ed, Jr. The couple later divorced in 2011.
