Lisle, Missouri facts for kids
Lisle is a small, quiet place in western Cass County, Missouri. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, the county helps manage things there. Lisle is also part of the larger Kansas City metropolitan area, a big region that includes Kansas City and many surrounding towns.
This community is very close to the border between Missouri and Kansas. You can find it along Missouri Route D, located between the towns of Drexel to the south and West Line to the north. Nearby natural features include Coldwater Creek to the south and east, and its smaller branch, Cave Spring Creek, to the north.
History of Lisle
Lisle was officially planned out and mapped in 1892. It was named after J. D. Lisle, who owned the land where the community was created. Before the community was even mapped, a post office was opened there in 1891. This post office served the people of Lisle for many years, until it finally closed its doors in 1954.
