Drexel is a small city located in the American state of Missouri. It sits partly in Bates County and partly in Cass County. In 2020, about 968 people lived there.

History of Drexel
Drexel was first called Stuart City. It was officially planned out in 1890. The city later changed its name to Drexel, named after a local store owner. A post office has been open in Drexel since 1891.
In June 2010, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources found a higher than usual amount of a chemical called atrazine in Drexel's public water supply. This chemical is used to kill weeds. The amount found was more than what the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says is safe for long-term exposure. Because of this, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services advised people not to use the water for drinking, cooking, washing dishes, or making ice.
Geography of Drexel
Drexel is located in the very southwest part of Cass County and also reaches into the northwest part of Bates County. The border between Missouri and Kansas is right next to the west side of the city.
Missouri Route A goes through Drexel, as does an old Kansas City Southern Railway line. The city of Archie is about 13 miles to the east. Merwin is about five miles to the south.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Drexel covers a total area of about 2.77 square miles (7.15 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 2.73 square miles (7.06 square kilometers), is land. A small part, about 0.04 square miles (0.09 square kilometers), is water.

Drexel's Population in 2010
Based on the census from 2010, there were 965 people living in Drexel. These people made up 404 households, and 264 of these were families. The city had about 353 people per square mile. There were 450 homes or housing units in total.
Most of the people living in Drexel were White (97.3%). A small number were African American (0.9%), Native American (0.3%), or Asian (0.1%). About 1.3% of the people were from two or more racial backgrounds. Around 0.7% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
Out of the 404 households, about 32.4% had children under 18 years old living with them. More than half, 52.2%, were married couples living together. About 6.9% of households had a female head without a husband, and 6.2% had a male head without a wife. About 34.7% of households were not families.
Around 31.9% of all households were made up of just one person. About 15.1% of households had someone living alone who was 65 years old or older. On average, each household had 2.39 people, and each family had 3.00 people.
The average age of people in Drexel was 39.4 years old. About 26.2% of residents were under 18. About 9.2% were between 18 and 24 years old. People aged 25 to 44 made up 20.5% of the population. Those aged 45 to 64 were 25.9%. Finally, 18.2% of residents were 65 years old or older. The population was almost evenly split between males (49.6%) and females (50.4%).
Education in Drexel
The Drexel R-IV School District is in charge of the schools in the area. It operates one elementary school and Drexel High School.
Drexel also has a public library. It is a part of the Cass County Public Library system.
