Archie is a small city in southern Cass County, Missouri. It is part of the larger Kansas City metropolitan area. In 2020, about 1,268 people lived there.

History of Archie
Archie was officially started in 1880. It was named after Archie Talmadge. He was the son of a railroad official. A post office has been open in Archie since 1880.
The Archie Meteorite
On August 10, 1932, a meteorite fell near Archie. This event got attention across the country. A piece of this meteorite is now on display. You can see it at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. This museum is in Washington, D.C.. The meteorite is simply called "Archie".
Geography of Archie
Archie is located in the southern part of Cass County. It sits just north of the county's southern border. You can find it near Missouri Route A and U.S. Route 71. Harrisonville is about 11 miles north on Route 71. The South Grand River flows about three-quarters of a mile to the northeast.
Land and Water
According to the United States Census Bureau, Archie covers about 1.20 square miles (3.11 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. Only a small part, about 0.04 square miles (0.10 square kilometers), is water.

Population in 2010
In 2010, the census showed 1,170 people living in Archie. There were 441 households in the city. About 317 of these were families. The city had about 1,008 people per square mile.
Many households, about 41.5%, had children under 18 living there. Most households, 56.7%, were married couples. The average household had 2.65 people. The average family had 3.12 people. The median age in Archie was 33.2 years.
Education in Archie
The Archie (Cass County R-V) School District serves the community. It offers classes from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. The main school buildings are mostly on one site. This includes the elementary, middle, and high schools.
The district also has an athletics "dome." This building doubles as a storm shelter for the community. An outdoor sports complex is located about one mile west of the main school site. Archie also has a public library. It is a branch of the Cass County Public Library system.
Arts and Culture in Archie
Archie is home to the Missouri State Tractor Pullers Association (MSTPA). This group organizes tractor pulling events. A new Dollar General store recently opened near the highway.
Local Traditions
Archie hosts a very old high school basketball tournament. It is one of the longest-running tournaments in Missouri. It is almost 90 years old.
War Veterans Memorial
There is a special monument in Archie. It is an obelisk that honors veteran soldiers. It specifically remembers those who served during wartime. Local Boy Scouts and a youth committee built it. This happened between 2003 and 2005. The community donated money to pay for it.
Notable People from Archie
- Vicky Hartzler – She was a member of the United States House of Representatives. She represented Missouri's 4th Congressional District from 2011 to 2023.
- Oad Swigart – He was a professional baseball player.
- Glenn Wright – He was a major league baseball player. He played shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
