The president of Equatorial Guinea is the head of state for the country of Equatorial Guinea. This means the president is the top leader of the nation. Equatorial Guinea is a country located in the Gulf of Guinea in Africa.
The president also leads the Council of Ministers. This group helps the president run the government. The president is also the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Equatorial Guinea. This means they are in charge of the country's military.
Francisco Macías Nguema was the first person to become president. He started his role on October 12, 1968. The current president is Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. He took office on August 3, 1979.

President's Term Limits
As of 2021, the Constitution of Equatorial Guinea says a president can only serve two terms. A term is how long someone stays in office. Each term lasts for seven years. So far, no president has reached this two-term limit.
