History of Columbia's Tall Buildings
Jesse Hall has been the tallest building in Columbia for a long time, ever since it was finished in 1894. It was built after another important building, Academic Hall, sadly burned down in 1892. Another interesting old building is the 5-story Guitar Building, built in 1910. People sometimes call it the city's "first skyscraper" because it was so tall for its time! It's part of the historic area in Downtown Columbia.
