The Armory Show was a huge art exhibition that happened in New York City in 1913. It was a really important event because it showed modern art to Americans for the first time. Before this show, most American art was very realistic, like looking at a photograph. But the Armory Show brought in new, exciting styles from Europe and the United States.

Many talented women artists from America and Europe had their artwork displayed in the Armory Show. Out of about 300 artists, a large number were women. Their contributions were very important, even though some of them were not as well-known later on. This list helps remember these amazing women and their art.

What Was the Armory Show?

The Armory Show was officially called the International Exhibition of Modern Art. It was put together by a group called the Association of American Painters and Sculptors. The show opened on February 17, 1913, at the 69th Regiment Armory building in New York City. It ran until March 15.

This show was a game-changer for American art. It introduced New Yorkers to modern art, which was very different from the realistic art they were used to. The Armory Show inspired American artists to be more creative and develop their own unique art styles.
