The Roth's tree frog is also known as the northern laughing tree frog. Its scientific name is Litoria rothii. This amazing frog lives in Australia. You can find it in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, and Queensland.

About Roth's Tree Frog

This frog can grow to be about 5.0 centimeters (2 inches) long. That's about the length of your thumb! It has a special ability to change its color. During the day, it might be a very light brown. But at night, it can turn much darker.

You might also see black and yellow colors on its legs and body. Roth's tree frogs have special sticky discs on the end of each front toe. These help them climb and hold onto surfaces.

Where Roth's Tree Frogs Live

Roth's tree frogs are very adaptable. This means they can live in many different kinds of places. People have seen them in wet areas like swamps and forests. However, they usually prefer to live close to rivers.

Sometimes, these frogs are even found on fruit farms. They might hide in fruit or plants. Because of this, people sometimes accidentally move these frogs to new places when they transport fruit.

Life Cycle of the Roth's Tree Frog

These frogs lay their eggs in temporary water puddles or areas that flood for a short time. This is a common way for frogs to reproduce.

After the eggs hatch, tiny tadpoles appear. These tadpoles are yellow and can grow up to 6.0 centimeters (about 2.4 inches) long. It takes about 65 days for the tadpoles to change into adult frogs.
