Little AuSable River facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Little AuSable River is a small, spring-fed stream that starts in Huron County, Ontario. It's the only stream of its size that flows through the area known as Lucan Biddulph. The land around Lucan Biddulph, which includes farms and pastures, drains into the Little AuSable, adding water and sometimes runoff from fields.

During the hot summer months, the river's flow becomes very small, sometimes just a trickle. But in winter, when it gets cold enough, the ponds along the river have been used as fun places for ice hockey and skating lessons.

The Little AuSable River eventually meets up with the larger Ausable River just outside Biddulph Township. At this point, the two rivers join together and continue their journey towards Lake Huron.

The River Valley's Beauty

North of Lucan, Ontario, the valley of the Little AuSable River is a beautiful spot. It reminds people of how grand the stream might have been in the past. This area is especially famous for its stunning autumn colours, making it a popular place to visit in the fall.

The longest bridge over the river crosses this valley. This bridge allows Highway 4 to continue its path, connecting to towns like Exeter.
