A long time ago, in 1927, the schools from Little Cypress and Gum Grove joined together. They used a four-room brick building for both elementary and high school students.
From 1931 to 1954, there were no high school classes in the community. Older students had to go to high school somewhere else. But later, high school classes were brought back. The school district we know today was created in the late 1900s.
