Little Mac Ski Hill, also called Little Mac, is a fun ski area near Mackenzie, British Columbia, Canada. It's run by the community and is located in the northern Rocky Mountain Trench.

This ski area has one special lift called a tow lift. The hill drops about 90 meters (295 feet) from top to bottom. The longest path you can ski down is 210 meters (689 feet) long. Besides skiing, you can also go tobogganing and snowboarding here!

Little Mac is connected to John Dahl Regional Park. This park has special trails for cross-country skiing that are kept smooth and ready. These trails even connect to the Mackenzie Recreation Centre. In 2021, a new outdoor ice rink opened in the park for everyone to use.

Even though it's not part of the ski area itself, there are another 32 kilometers (20 miles) of cross-country ski trails right near Mackenzie town. These trails are lit up at night and have three cozy huts where you can warm up.

In the summer, the side of Little Mac turns into a cool place for mountain biking. These trails connect to Morfee Lake. They have fun wooden jumps and banked turns, with different paths for all skill levels.

Little Mac Ski Hill gets its money from the District of Mackenzie. The town of Mackenzie also helps keep it running. The public works department in Mackenzie takes care of everything at Little Mac. Even though it's a small hill, Little Mac is a big draw for visitors to Mackenzie, British Columbia. Its close location to town makes it a favorite spot for families and kids of all ages.

On July 25, 2008, it was announced that the ski area would get $160,000 from a special government program called "Towns for Tomorrow." This money was used to rebuild the Little Mac Ski Chalet, which is like a warm lodge for skiers.

Why Did Little Mac Ski Hill Close in 2018?

In 2018, there was news that Little Mac Ski Hill would not open for the 2018/19 ski season. This made many people in the community sad. To figure out what to do, the community started a program to get everyone's ideas. By late 2018, it was announced that they planned to reopen the ski hill.

How Did the Community Help Reopen the Ski Hill?

In 2019, the people in Mackenzie showed a lot of support for reopening the ski hill. They said it was a very important part of their community. Because of this strong support, Little Mac Ski Hill successfully reopened for the 2020/2021 ski season. It was a big success and many people came to enjoy it!
