Little Wizards, also known as Young Wizards, is an American animated TV show. It aired from 1987 to 1988. The series was created by Len Janson and Chuck Menville. It was produced by Marvel Productions and New World International. The show follows the adventures of a young prince and his magical friends. They work together to fight against an evil wizard.

The Story of Little Wizards

The show is about a brave young prince named Dexter. He doesn't have a crown because his father, the king, has passed away. After the king's death, a mean wizard named Renvick stole the crown. Renvick then declared himself the new king. He tried to lock up Dexter, fearing the prince would challenge him.

But Dexter managed to escape into the woods. There, he met a kind magician named Phineas. Phineas lived with a friendly young dragon named Lulu. One day, while helping Phineas make a magic potion, Dexter accidentally caused an explosion! This explosion brought three unique monsters to life. These monsters, named Winkle, Gump, and Boo, each had their own special magical powers. Together, Dexter, Phineas, Lulu, and the three new monsters become the "Little Wizards." They work together to stop the evil Renvick and bring peace back to their land.

Main Characters

• Dexter – He is a young prince who lost his father, the king. He escaped from the evil wizard Renvick. Dexter found a good magician named Phineas in the woods. He also won a special singing sword.
• Phineas Willodium – He is a wise magician and teacher. Phineas rescued Prince Dexter from the evil wizard Renvick.
• Lulu – She is Phineas's loyal and friendly dragon.
• Winkle – She is a cheerful, pink monster. Winkle can fly by taking a deep breath. Dexter accidentally created her.
• Gump – He is a grumpy, orange monster. Gump can change his shape into other objects. However, he still keeps some of his own features. Dexter accidentally created him.
• Boo – He is a shy and scared blue monster. Boo can turn invisible, but his eyes still show. Dexter accidentally created him.
• Renvick – He is the evil wizard. Renvick stole the crown after the king died and made himself king. He hates Phineas and the Little Wizards. He always tries to defeat them, but he rarely succeeds.

• Clovie – She is a young servant girl. Clovie knows a secret about Renvick and her mother. She helps the Little Wizards. She might have a crush on Dexter.
• William – He is Clovie's pet sparrow.

How the Show Was Made

Len Janson and Chuck Menville created "Little Wizards" for Marvel Productions. They developed the show for the ABC television network. ABC worked with a company called Q5 Corporation to help create this show and others for the 1987-1988 TV season. The experts at Q5 Corporation included psychologists and people who knew a lot about advertising and research.

The show was promoted as part of the "ABC Family Fun Fair." This event brought the voice actors from the show to perform parts of their episodes live. For example, the show stopped in Oklahoma City from August 28 to August 30, 1987.
