Liu Xianping (刘先平) is a famous Chinese writer. He is known for writing about nature and the environment. People often call him the "Father of Modern Nature Writing in China." He has also written many popular books for children.
About Liu Xianping
Liu Xianping was born in 1938 in a place called Feidong, in Anhui province, China. He went to Zhejiang University and finished his studies in Chinese in 1961.
For many years, Liu Xianping worked as a teacher. He also helped edit a magazine called Anhui Literature. He started writing in 1957, creating poems, essays, and other writings. He stopped writing for a while in 1963.
In 1978, he started writing again, but this time he focused on nature. He joined the China Writers Association in 1982. This is a big group for writers in China.
Liu Xianping loves to explore. He has traveled all over China, spending a lot of time in wild places. He has visited areas like Xinjiang, Yunnan, and Tibet to learn about nature firsthand.
Awards and Recognition
Liu Xianping has received many important awards in China. In 1992, the State Council of China gave him a special title. They called him an "Expert who has made an outstanding contribution."
He has won the National Outstanding Children's Literature Award two times. This is a very important award for children's books in China. In 2008, he was also listed on the IBBY Honour List. He has even been nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Award, which is a huge international award for children's authors.
