Liverpool Cruise Terminal facts for kids
The Liverpool Cruise Terminal opened in Liverpool in 2007. It's a special place where big ships, called cruise ships, pick up and drop off people traveling to faraway countries. Think of it like a giant bus station, but for amazing ocean adventures!
Liverpool's Cruise History
Long, long ago, in 1819, Liverpool was already a busy port for international ship travel. People would start their journeys from a place called the Princes' Landing Stage. This was a floating dock where passengers could easily get on and off ships. It was used for many years, helping people travel across oceans, but it closed in 1973.
The New Terminal
After some time, Liverpool decided to bring back its proud history of welcoming large passenger ships. So, in 2007, the modern Liverpool Cruise Terminal was opened. It quickly became a popular spot for cruise ships. Because so many people wanted to travel from Liverpool, work started on a second, even bigger, terminal building in 2018. This shows how important Liverpool is for sea travel!
Where Can You Go?
From the Liverpool Cruise Terminal, you can set off on exciting trips to different parts of the world. For example, in 2019, cruise ships sailed from Liverpool to amazing places like Iceland (the land of ice and fire!), sunny Portugal, beautiful France, and the stunning fjords of Norway. It's a great way to explore new countries and have an unforgettable adventure!
