Lizz Wright (born Elizabeth LaCharla Wright on January 22, 1980) is an American singer. She is famous for her jazz and gospel songs.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Lizz Wright was born in a small town called Hahira, in Georgia. She was one of three children. Her father was a minister and her mother was the music director at their church.
Lizz started singing gospel music and playing the piano in church when she was very young. As she grew up, she also became interested in jazz and blues music.
She went to Houston County High School in Warner Robins. There, she was part of the school choir. She even won the National Choral Award for her singing. After high school, she studied singing at Georgia State University in Atlanta. She also studied music in New York and Vancouver, BC.
Music Career and Albums
In 2000, Lizz Wright joined a singing group in Atlanta called In the Spirit. Two years later, in 2002, she signed a contract with Verve Records. Many people have compared her singing style to that of Norah Jones.
Her first album, Salt, came out in 2003. It quickly became very popular. It reached number 2 on the Billboard Top Contemporary Jazz chart in 2004.
Her next album, Dreaming Wide Awake, was released in 2005. This album mixed jazz with pop and folk music. It was a big hit, reaching number 1 on the Top Contemporary Jazz chart in both 2005 and 2006.
In 2008, Lizz Wright released her third album, The Orchard. It also received good reviews from music critics. Her fourth album, Fellowship, came out in 2010. Many of the songs on this album are well-known gospel songs.
