Llanera de Ranes is a small town, also called a municipality, in Spain. It is located in the Valencian Community, a region in eastern Spain. The town is part of the comarca (a type of region) called Costera. It sits on flat land next to the Canyoles river.

History of Llanera de Ranes

Llanera de Ranes is a very old community. In 1646, it had only 44 houses. A big change happened around the year 1700 when the Moors, who had lived in Spain for a long time, left the area. This made the village almost empty.

The 1743 Earthquake

In 1743, a very strong earthquake hit the area. Many people in Llanera de Ranes died. Because of this disaster, a nearby town called Torrent de Fenollet, which was also badly damaged and almost empty, became part of Llanera de Ranes.

Population Growth

After the earthquake, the population slowly started to grow again. By 1794, about 500 people lived in Llanera de Ranes. This number continued to increase, reaching 840 people by 1897. Today, the town has around 1,000 residents.
