Llanuras del Gaspar is a district in the Sarapiquí area. It is part of the Heredia province in Costa Rica.

History of Llanuras del Gaspar
Llanuras del Gaspar was officially created on October 6, 1999. This happened through a special government order called Decreto Ejecutivo 28137-G.
Where is Llanuras del Gaspar?
This district is located in the northern part of Costa Rica. It shares borders with different places:
- To the south and west, it borders the district of Puerto Viejo.
- To the east, it borders the province of Limón.
- To the north, it borders the country of Nicaragua.
The main village in Llanuras del Gaspar is called La Aldea. It is about 40 kilometers (25 miles) northeast of Puerto Viejo. It is also about 122 kilometers (76 miles) northeast of San José, which is the capital city of Costa Rica.
Geography and Land
Llanuras del Gaspar covers an area of about 267.74 square kilometers (103.37 square miles). It is located at an elevation of about 20 meters (66 feet) above sea level. This makes it the smallest district in the Sarapiquí area based on its size.
The land here is mostly flat. It is part of the large plains of Sarapiquí.
People of Llanuras del Gaspar
According to the 2011 census, Llanuras del Gaspar had a population of 1,160 people. This makes it the third-most populated district in the Sarapiquí area.
