Loch Lomond is a small, quiet community in Lake County, California. It's not a city, but a special type of place called an "unincorporated community." This means it's not officially governed by its own local city government. It sits high up in the mountains, about 2,818 feet (859 meters) above sea level.
You can find Loch Lomond along State Route 175, a scenic road in California. It's just a short drive north of the village of Cobb. The main mailing code for Loch Lomond is 95461. This code is also used by the nearby town of Middletown.
Discovering Loch Lomond
Loch Lomond is a charming mountain resort. It has a small population of about 420 people. Many years ago, it was even known as "Little Italy." This nickname came from the many Italian families who settled here.
Fun Things to Do
Even today, you can find private resorts like Italian Village. Biggi's Family Club also offers fun summer activities. Visitors can find places to stay and a private campground. There's also a grocery store with a deli. You can grab a bite or send mail from here.
The community has a Roadhouse restaurant and bar. Giovanni's coffee shop is also nearby. One cool feature is the community swimming pool. It's the oldest Olympic-sized pool in California that's still open!
Nature's Wonders
On the west side of the highway, you'll find a special place. It's called the Loch Lomond Vernal Pool Ecological Reserve. A vernal pool is a unique type of pond. It fills with water in the wet season and dries up later.
This reserve is managed by the California Fish and Game. They work to protect the plants and animals that live there. It's a great spot to see nature.
