Lockridge is a friendly suburb located in Perth. It's part of Western Australia and falls under the City of Swan local government area. This means the local council helps manage things like parks and roads.

In 2016, about 3,467 people called Lockridge home.

A Look at Lockridge's Past

Lockridge has an interesting history. The land was first given to Edward Hamersley way back in 1837. The name Lockridge comes from Lockeridge House. This house was built in 1874 by Edward's son, Samuel Hamersley.

Developing the Area

Later, in the 1920s, the Western Australian government bought some of this land. It was part of a plan called the Soldier settlement scheme. This scheme helped soldiers who had returned from war get land to farm.

In 1969, the State Housing Commission bought a large area of land. This was about 240 acres (97 hectares). They did this to start building homes for people in Lockridge. In the late 1990s, the area had a big update. This was a project to make the suburb even better for its residents.

Community and Facilities

Lockridge has several places for people to enjoy. You can find Rosher Park, which is a great spot for outdoor activities. Students in the area attend Lockridge Primary School. Older students go to Kiara College.

The Alice Daveron Community Centre is also in Lockridge. This centre provides a place for community events and activities. The Swan Valley Nyungah Community was also located in this area.
