Lois, Missouri facts for kids
Lois is a small place in Maries County, Missouri. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and buildings, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does.
You can find Lois in the eastern part of Maries County. It's located where two county roads, 452 and 453, meet. It's also close to Missouri Route 28. Nearby places include Vichy, which is about two miles south, and Lanes Prairie, about three miles north. The Spring Creek Gap Conservation Area is also just one mile to the west.
History of Lois
Lois got its name from a young person named Lois Cordsmeyer.
A post office was opened in Lois in 1889. It helped people send and receive mail for many years. However, the post office closed its doors in 1912.
