The Story of London Ribfest
How Ribfest Began and Grew
- After the first few years, a group called the Boys & Girls Clubs of London started running Ribfest. They did this for 20 years!
- In 2008, the Boys & Girls Clubs decided to stop organizing the festival. This was because they had money worries and couldn't find enough sponsors.
- People in London were a bit worried when another festival might be cancelled. They wondered how the city was helping its festivals.
A New Organizer Steps In
- The city of London chose a local company called Family Shows Canada to take over Ribfest.
- In 2009, Family Shows Canada started running the event.
- Since then, the London Ribfest has grown a lot! There are many more things to do and eat.
- For example, in 2010, the festival had 225 different exhibits. There were also 100 live bands playing music. You could watch cooking shows, try food from many different vendors, and even go on amusement rides!
A Short Break
- In 2020, for the very first time, the London Ribfest did not happen. This was because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
