Loo-errn's special home was at a place called Yiruk/Wamoon. This area is very important in his stories. He was believed to control a large area of land. This land stretched between Hoddle's Creek and Yiruk/Wamoon. It was known as Marr-ne-beek.

This shows how powerful Loo-errn was. It also highlights the importance of respecting the land and its traditional owners.

The Black Swan Feather

The myth of Loo-errn is told across a wide area. This area stretches from Coorong, South Australia, all the way to Wilsons Promontory. The story begins with Loo-errn and his wife, Lo-an-tuka. They were eating their usual meal of eel. Suddenly, a black swan feather floated down from the sky. This feather caught Loo-errn's attention. It made him aware of two sisters, the Koonawara sisters. These sisters were black swans.

Loo-errn's Journey and Creations

Loo-errn decided to follow the Koonawara sisters. He wanted to try and hunt them for food. He followed them onto Wathaurong country. The Elders of that country warned the sisters to stay away from Loo-errn. But Loo-errn was angry. He spoke harsh words to the sisters. Because of his actions, the Elders decided to banish Loo-errn from their land.

After being banished, Loo-errn chased the sisters across the sky. Each time he landed on the ground, he created granite rock formations. These formations are still visible today. Examples include the You Yangs, also known as Wurdi Youang. He also created formations north and west of Anakie. Both of these places are south of the Parwan. Loo-errn created several other rock formations. These stretch all the way to Wilsons Promontory. These stories explain how the landscape was formed. They show Loo-errn's lasting impact on the land.
