Loop is a small community located in Gaines County, Texas, in the United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for population information, but it doesn't have its own official city government. In 2010, about 225 people lived in Loop.
The community got its name from a unique story. The first postmaster, who was in charge of the mail, named it after the "loop" of his lasso.

Geography of Loop
Loop is found in the northeastern part of Gaines County. A main road, Texas State Highway 83, runs through the community. This highway can take you about 9 miles (14 km) west to Seagraves or about 17 miles (27 km) east to Welch.
The county seat, Seminole, is located about 26 miles (42 km) southwest of Loop by road. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Loop CDP covers an area of about 3.5 square miles (9.2 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
