A Lord Lieutenant is a special person who represents the King or Queen in a county. They are the King's or Queen's personal representative there. This article lists the Lord Lieutenants for Fermanagh, a county located in Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom.

Lord Lieutenants of Fermanagh

The role of Lord Lieutenant was officially brought back in 1831. Since then, these people have served as the Lord Lieutenant for Fermanagh:

  • The 4th Earl Erne: 1885 – 2 December 1914

  • The 5th Earl of Enniskillen: 25 September 1948 – 19 February 1963
  • The 1st Viscount Brookeborough: 26 April 1963 – February 1969
  • vacant (This means the position was empty for a while)
  • Major-General Thomas Scott: 17 June 1971 – 30 July 1976

Deputy Lieutenants of Fermanagh

A Deputy lieutenant is someone who helps the Lord Lieutenant of Fermanagh. They are appointed by the Lord Lieutenant. There can be several Deputy Lieutenants at one time, depending on how many people live in the county. Their appointment does not end when a new Lord Lieutenant takes over, but they usually retire when they turn 75 years old.
