Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire facts for kids
A Lord Lieutenant is a special person chosen by the King or Queen to represent them in a county. Think of them as the King's or Queen's personal representative in that area. They help with important events and support local communities. This list shows the people who have been the Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire. Shropshire is a county in England.
Before a big war called the English Civil War, the Lord Lieutenant for Shropshire was always the same person as the Lord Lieutenant for all of Wales. But after the King came back to power (this was called the Restoration), Shropshire got its own separate Lord Lieutenant. Since 1708, all Lord Lieutenants have also been in charge of keeping important county records, a role called the Custos Rotulorum of Shropshire.

Deputy Lieutenants
A deputy lieutenant of Shropshire is a person chosen by the Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire. Deputy lieutenants help the Lord Lieutenant with their duties. There can be many deputy lieutenants at one time. The number depends on how many people live in the county. Their job does not end when a new Lord Lieutenant is appointed. However, they usually retire when they turn 75 years old.
