Los Cerritos, Colorado facts for kids
Los Cerritos is a small, unincorporated community located in Conejos County, in the state of Colorado, USA. An unincorporated community means it's a place with a group of homes and people, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's usually managed by the county.
History of Los Cerritos
Los Cerritos has a short but interesting history. A post office was opened there in 1889, which means people living in the area could send and receive mail right in their community. This post office served the residents for many years, but it eventually closed down in 1914.
The name "Los Cerritos" comes from the Spanish language. It means "the little hills," which probably describes the landscape or geography around the community.
